One Player, One Account

The Basics: One Player, One Account

At Checkmate Live, every player must have only one account. Creating or using multiple accounts is not allowed and may result in penalties, including account suspension or bans.

Why This Matters

We want to ensure fair play for everyone. Multiple accounts can be used to:

  • Enter the same tournament multiple times

  • Manipulate ratings

  • Claim rewards multiple times

  • Gain unfair advantages over other players

Your Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain only one account

  • Register with your correct country of residence

  • Only claim a FIDE ID that legitimately belong to you

  • Never share your account with others

  • Report suspicious behaviour through our in-platform chat

Anonymous vs. Verified Play

Anonymous Participation: Players can compete anonymously in standard Checkmate Live competitions without KYC verification. This allows casual players to enjoy the platform while maintaining privacy.

Pro and Echess Requirements: Pro competitions, Echess events, and FIDE-rated tournaments require complete KYC verification. This ensures the integrity of official competitions and compliance with federation requirements.

Tournament Finalists: If you reach the finals in a tournament, your identity may be required for verification purposes, especially in events with prizes or official recognition. This helps maintain competitive integrity at the highest levels of play.

Mixed Events and Special Tournaments: Tournaments that have both rated and unrated players or special events may operate under different requirements. Some events may allow anonymous participation in early rounds but require verification for later stages. The specific participation requirements can be found at all times on the tournament page for each event.

Tournament-Specific Requirements: Always check the tournament page for the specific requirements of each event. Requirements may include KYC verification, FIDE ID validation, webcam setup, or other conditions that vary based on the tournament type, prize structure, and organising body.
