# Avatar Class

Two key principles rule alpha Avatas and In-Season Avatars:

* Class scarcity
* [Traits ](/arcade-mode-alpha-pack/alpha-pack/alpha-avatars/traits-and-rarity.md)rarity

The total population of Checkmate Avatars dictates class supply; they are born (minted) with their unique traits.

## Class

* Each Avatar is assigned a hierarchy based on the pieces found in chess&#x20;
* Avatars are weighted according to their class, with the King and Queen having the highest weighting and the Pawn the smallest weighting&#x20;
* Future drop allocations will be allocated based on class weightings&#x20;
* Each Aatar class also has an Alpha Pro pass ranging from one to seven years&#x20;
* The Alpha Pack class you select dictates the class of Avatar you receive but not the Avatar nor its trait rarity; this is a surprise and part of the fun
* You are free to trade your PFP Ethereum-based Avatar with other players if you wish or keep to collect future drops&#x20;

## **Drop Weighting and Allocation**&#x20;

Drops may be in credits, collectibles or tokens, including the [Participation ](/gameplay-and-features/participation-token.md)Token. \
The example below shows that a King and Queen get x6 the allocation a Pawn receives.\
\
The following example is based on 10M Credits being dropped.&#x20;

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th width="211.33333333333331" align="center"></th><th width="257" align="center"></th><th align="center"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td align="center"><strong>Class</strong></td><td align="center"><strong>Drop pool per Class (©)</strong></td><td align="center"><strong>Drop Value Per Avatar (©)</strong></td></tr><tr><td align="center">King</td><td align="center">734,532</td><td align="center">827</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Queen</td><td align="center">734,532</td><td align="center">827</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Rook</td><td align="center">3,246,939</td><td align="center">551</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Knight</td><td align="center">2,435,205</td><td align="center">414</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Bishop</td><td align="center">1,623,470</td><td align="center">276</td></tr><tr><td align="center">Pawn</td><td align="center">1,225,323</td><td align="center">138</td></tr></tbody></table>

\
\
Value is in the eye of the holder; make sure you consider the total supply of Alpha Avatar,  its traits and drop weighting when choosing your class.&#x20;
